<br />ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - March 31, 2008 <br /> <br />16 <br /> <br />Mayor Harpstead asked for clarification on what the Technical Review Committee was <br />responsible for. <br /> <br />Ms. Kvilvang stated that it was her understanding that the Technical Review Committee was <br />responsible for looking at the technical side of dealing with environmental issues at the site. <br /> <br />Ms. Kvilvang stated that the Army was moving forward with plans to clean up Sites I and K to <br />State industrial standards and a map will be provided at a future date showing the location of <br />these sites. <br /> <br />Council member Grant asked if the term industrial standards was firmly defined. <br /> <br />Ms. Kvilvang stated that this was finnly defined. <br /> <br />Mayor Harpstead stated that this would not enable the land to be used for residential purposes <br />and asked if it would allow for retail. <br /> <br />Ms. Kvilvang responded no. <br /> <br />Ms. Gen McJilton, ofRRLD, stated that the cleanup would be to Army Industrial Standards. <br /> <br />Ms. Kvilvang stated that in regard to communications strategies, Ted Davis would be presenting <br />the draft document at the City Council Meeting on April 14, 2008. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant stated that if Sites I and K were cleaned up to Army Industrial <br />Standards, then any additional work would be considered a negotiated offset. <br /> <br />Councilmember Holden asked ifthere was a phone call still scheduled for April. <br /> <br />Ms. Kvilvang stated that there would be a phone call with the GSA and the Army in April <br />regarding documents and any other preparation needed for the June 4-5 meeting. <br /> <br />9. COUNCIL COMMENTS AND REQUESTS <br /> <br />Councilmember McClung provided a follow up to previous work sessions regarding the needs <br />assessment for the fire department. There was a Board of Directors meeting Wednesday, March <br />26,2008 and the consensus of the three cities was to work through the year on refining the scope <br />and that this be a budgeted item next year. The City of Shoreview Assistant to the City <br />Administrator will work with the Fire Chief to develop a series of questions they can take to <br />other cities with similar programs and determine what they are doing. They will be looking at <br />putting together a report towards the end of the year and that will come to the City. This could <br />be used as a needs assessment for the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Harpstead stated that three of the six candidates for the City Administrator position have <br />been moved forward through the process. <br />
