of Arden <br />Pian - DRAFT <br />Each of the above topics are examined in a comprehensive and community -wide <br />manner in order to take advantage of opportunities, increase efficiency, and work <br />toward building a stronger community. <br />This Plan is being prepared as requirement of the Metropolitan Land Planning Act; <br />however, the City recognizes the importance of planning and setting community- <br />wide goals. Arden Hills completed its first Comprehensive Plan in 1966 with updates <br />in 1976, 1980, and 1998. It is anticipated that the next Comprehensive Plan review <br />will take place in 2018. <br />While this Plan is a guide for development through 2030, it is intended to be flexible <br />and responsive document that can be amended to acknowledge changing conditions <br />and new opportunities. This Plan must be continually referenced, updated, and <br />used on a regular basis. This document provides a path for the City but does not <br />dictate specific activities or absolute decisions; instead, this Plan is intended to help <br />City leaders in developing policies, programs, ordinances, capital improvement <br />plans, and budgets that reflect the overall values and priorities of the residents and <br />businesses. <br />1.2 2030 Regional Development Framework <br />1, Formatted: Bullets and Numbering <br />On January 14 2006 the Metropolitan Council adopted the 2030 Regional Formatted: Indent Left. 0.25 <br />Development Framework to guide growth in the seven county metropolitan area <br />through 2030 The Framework includes regional growth policies and it defines the <br />community role in achieving these policies The policies that are applicable to Arden <br />Hills include: <br />Policy 1: Work with the communities to accommodate growth in a flexible <br />connected and efficient manner. <br />Policy 2: Plan and invest in multi -modal transportation choices based on the full <br />ramie of costs and benefitsto slow the growth of congestion and serve <br />the region's economic needs. <br />Policy 3' Encourage expanded choices in housing location and types and improved <br />accessto lobs and opportunities. <br />Policy 4 Work with local and regional partners to conserve protect and enhance <br />the region's vital natural resources <br />The City of Arden Hills supports these policies and the vision goals and policies <br />identified in the City's Comprehensive Plan seek advance the Metropolitan Council's <br />2030 Regional Development Framework where applicable to Arden Hills <br />DRAFT <br />5/1/2008 <br />r -- <br />,.` Formatted: Indent Left: 0.25" <br />i.
