City of Arden Hills - Comprehensive Plan - DRAFT
busy roadway that continues to increase in traffic and is a dangerous route for
pedestrians. This proiect is scheduled to occur in the federal fiscal year- 2009.
This project is a cooperation between the City, Ramsey County Parks and
Recreation, School District 621 and Ramsey County Public Works.
In conjunction with Ramsey County and MnDOT, grade separated crossings of
major roads and railroads is one of the more important actions the City can take
to improve the path network, increase safety, enhance access to parks,
encourage increased physical activity, and help tie the community together. The
following connections and improvements, some of which are noted in the above
list, are recommended from the 2002 PTOS Plan and the community meetings:
o County Road E over Highway 51 -The existing bridge is very narrow
and unsafe for pedestrians or bicyclists. This location is a key connection
between the east and west portions of the City. The City will also need to
work with Ramse)County_and MnDOT to consider options for expanding
or reconstructing the bridge to create adequate pedestrian and bike
crossings or build a freestanding bike and pedestrian bridge near the
vehicle bridge.
Deleted: The above fist is not a
ranked priority list of proposed path
expansions and upgrades. While a
full ranking needs to be developed,
the City has identified certain trail
segments that are crucial for
developing needed north -south path
connections that are divided by majc
highways G, G1, G2, I, 11, 12, and 13
Formatted: Bullets and Numbering
oHighway 96 - A grade separated trail connection may be needed ata Formatted: Bu112ts and Numbering
location between Highway 10 and Lexington Avenue.
