<br />~ <br /> <br /> <br />~ <br />EN HILLS <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />May 5, 2008 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Dave Scherbel, Building Official <br />Meagan Beekman, Planner I <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Flaherty's Liquor License Amendment <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Flaherty's Arden Bowl has requested to amend their 2008 Liquor License to allow for the <br />consumplion of alcohol in an enclosed outdoor patio area. The area proposed is adjacent to the <br />establishments existing lounge, at the southwest comer of the building. The area is currently <br />covered with 1,140 square feet of concrete and 308 square feet of grass. (Attachment A). <br /> <br />A three foot high wrought iron fence will be constructed to enclose the concrete area and some <br />of the grass area. Tables and chairs would be placed on the concrete portion of the patio and <br />food and beverage service would be provided to patrons sitting at the tables. Flaherty's is <br />currently paying the maximum amount for their Liquor license, which is based on a alcoholic <br />beverage service area of 4,000 square feet or more, so no additional fee's are required. <br /> <br />The applicant has submitted an amendment to their original liquor license application and a site <br />plan indicating the service area to be added. <br /> <br />Staff Review <br /> <br />The City Attorney has reviewed this application and found that the City's existing liquor <br />ordinance permils outdoor consumption of alcoholic beverages, as long as the service area is <br />included in lhe square footage indicated on the establishments liquor license application, and the <br />license fee is adjusted to reflect this additional square footage.
