Both <br /> regular and ad hoc members of the commission shall be <br /> appointed with due regard to their fitness for the efficient <br /> dispatch of the functions, powers and duties vested in and <br /> imposed upon the commission. At least eight (8) of the <br /> regular members of the commission shall be a minimum of <br /> twenty-one (21) years of age. (Ord. No. 169, § 1, 2-12-73) <br /> Sec. 2-84. Appointment, terms. <br /> (a) Each adult member of the human rights commission, <br /> after the original appointments, ahall be appointed for a <br /> term of three (3) years. The regular members of the <br /> commission who are less than twenty-one (21) years of age <br /> shall be appointed for one year terms. Upon the egpiration <br /> of his term of office, a regular member shall continue to <br /> serve until his successor is appointed and shall have <br /> qualified. To insure regularity in the composition of the <br /> commission, the first year of any term of a regular member <br /> shall be deemed to end at the egpiration of the calendar <br /> year in which the appointment is made. <br /> (b) Ad hoc membera shall be appointed for one year <br /> terms, which shall be deemed to have egpired at the end of <br /> the calendar year in which the appointment is made. <br /> (c) At the first meeting of the council in each calendar <br /> year, the mayor with the advice and consent of the council, <br /> shall in addition to making the required appointments <br /> designate one of the members of the commisaion to act as its <br /> chairman for that calendar year.
