The <br />following goals were listed by the Planning Commission at their February 4, 2009, work session <br />and the City Council at their February 17, 2009, work session. <br />Common Priorities <br />0 Protecting the rights of property owners and from the actions of neighbors <br />0 Enhancing shoreland aesthetics <br />• Ensuring public safety on lakes <br />• improving water quality <br />Encouraging native plantings on shoreland lots <br />City Council Priorities <br />0 Utilizing appropriate use management <br />• Managing potential impediments to shorelands (i.e. geese) <br />0 Minimizing runoff from. parking lots <br />• Addressing neglected yards in shoreland lots <br />• Clarifying regulations for residential vs. non-profit institution shoreland properties <br />i Ensuring participation of institutions on shoreland properties (i.e. Bethel and <br />Northwestern Colleges) <br />0 Continuing to discourage water orientated accessory structures <br />PIanning Commission Priorities <br />• Establishing a standard setback for structures <br />City o, f Arden Hills <br />Planning Commission Word: Session for March 4, 2009 <br />P_ 1PlanninglPlanning Cases, 00Vi09-003 Shoreland Preservation Ordinance W30409 - PC report - Shoreland Update_doc <br />Page I of 3 <br />
