HILLS <br /> CITY OF ARDEN HILLS <br /> PARKS,TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING <br /> TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16,2008, 6:30 PM <br /> ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL <br /> 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br /> Acting Chair Peck called the December 16, 2008, meeting of the Parks, Trails and Recreation <br /> Committee to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Committee Chair John Peck; Committee Members Harold Petersen, <br /> and Lanny Baumann. <br /> OTHERS PRESENT: Council Liaison Fran.Holmes, Park and Recreation Manager Michelle <br /> Olson,Perspective Members: Steve Scott, Cindy Garretson, and Nancy O'Malley. <br /> MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: Rich Straumann <br /> 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Baumann motioned to approve the agenda as presented. The <br /> motion carried unanimously. <br /> 3. - APPROVAL OF MINUTES—NOVEMBER 25,2008 <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Straumann motioned to approve the minutes as noting the <br /> Buckthorn mulch was safe for use. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> 4. MEMBER VACANCY STATUS DISCUSSION <br /> Ms. Olson explained the committee member interviews were completed at this time. She <br /> indicated there were a total of five applicants with four openings. Ms. Olson indicated on <br /> January 12th the members would be appointed but that she would also be changing the City <br /> g g y <br /> Ordinance to allow the PTRC up to 12 members. <br /> Acting Chair Peck questioned if the Council was in favor of the PTRC having up to 12 members. <br /> Council Liaison Holmes stated this was discussed at the Council retreat in December where it <br /> was decided the PTRC would be opened up to 12 members. She added that it would be <br /> beneficial to have two members not live in Arden Hills, but work in the City to gain their input. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated the packet included a calendar of future meetings and that all winter <br /> meetings would be held indoors. She stated she spoke with Acting Chair Peck about holding <br /> field trips and getting out to the parks when the weather allows, along with a tour of all parks by <br /> bus. The Committee was in favor of this suggestion. <br />
