PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> December 161 2008 <br /> Page 4 of 4 <br /> MOTION: Acting Chair Peck made a motion, which was seconded by Committee Member <br /> Baumann to approve the Committee Goals and Expectations for 2009. The motion passed <br /> unanimously. <br /> 8. 2009 BUDGET AND CIP DISCUSSION <br /> Ms. Olson reviewed the 2009 budget and CIP with the Committee. She indicated the numbers <br /> were based on a 5.9% tax levy increase which was reduced to 5.4%. Ms. Olson reported the <br /> Parks and Recreation portion of the budget was 6.6%. She explained these funds were down <br /> slightly from the previous year. <br /> Acting Chair Peck questioned if the County Road E bride plans were in lace. Ms. Olson stated <br /> g p p <br /> the City was hoping to gain partners and sponsorships to assist funding the $400, expense. <br /> 000 ex _ <br /> Council Liaison Holmes indicated the Council was in favor of a pass along the north side of the <br /> bridge. Ms. Olson explained additional comments would be gathered from the Committee as <br /> issue moves forward. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated two basketball courts would be resurfaced this year aloe with funding for <br /> Y g g <br /> City trail signage amounting to $15,000 for 2009 and $10,000 for 2010. She explained a trail <br /> plan will be crucial in developing how signs will be placed throughout the City for trails. <br /> Ms. Olson noted the Lexington Avenue trail will hopefully be a partnershipwith the neighboring <br /> g g <br /> businesses to create a connection from the railroad to GreyFox. Actin Chair Peck questioned if <br /> g <br /> the Committee members could create a subcommittee to present these businesses with the <br /> partnership Opportunity. Council Liaison stated this would be a �eat option in gaining interest <br /> for this trail connection. <br /> 9. NEXT MEETING—Tuesday,January 13 2009 <br /> The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Please note that due to Martin <br /> Luther King Day, the Council meeting is scheduled for the PTRC regular meeting night. <br /> g <br /> Therefore, the meeting will be scheduled for the second Tuesday in January. <br /> 10.
