i : EN HILLS CITY OF ARDEN HILLS PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2009 6:30 PM ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER Chair Peck called the March 17, 2009, meeting of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee to order at 6:30 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Committee Chair John Peck, Committee Members Rich Straumann — Jody Hilgers, Don Messerly, Lanny Baumann and Steve Scott. OTHERS PRESENT: Council Liaison Fran Holmes, Park and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson, and Public Works Director Greg Hoag. MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: Committee Members CindyGarretson Larry Jones Nancy � y y O'Malley, and Harold Peterson. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA MOTION: Committee Member Messerly motioned to approve the agenda resented pp g en as p seconded by Steve Scott. The motion carried unanimously. y 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES —FEBRUARY 24 2009 Ms. Hilgers requested that both high school students and college students be asked to volunteer for the community clean up event, and that this be reflected in the previous minutes. MOTION: Committee Member Scott motioned to approve the minutes as amended above, , seconded by Committee Member Baumann. The motion carried unanimously. y 4. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUISINESS A. Ice Rink Season Review Ms. Olson reviewed the 2008-2009 ice rink season information with the Committee stating the weather was very cooperative. She included the attendance records and compared It to previous year's numbers. Ms. Olson stated Freeway Park was the most utilized this past winter with . 1,698 users. She indicated the public works department would be doing an inspection of all the rinks and preparing a repair punch list that will be presented to Council. Staff did not anticipate any major repairs after the season and was very pleased with the newly renovated warming house at Hazelnut.
