PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES <br /> March 17, 2009 <br /> Page 7 of 7 <br /> Council Liaison Holmes added that the Army may be interested in building a community center <br /> on a portion of their property. She indicated the Council will continue conversations with them <br /> and that the City may assist in funding the building to be a shared community center. <br /> B. Parks and Recreation/Public Works Update <br /> Ms. Olson indicated the City received the new water tanker a month ago, which had a lot of new <br /> features to assist in flooding the rinks, which will also be used for watering trees and assist in <br /> street sweeping. She stated staff was reviewing County Road E RFQ's at this time and will go to <br /> Council shortly. <br /> Ms. Olson explained she was starting the process to hire seasonal employees. She indicated the <br /> City was taking applications at this time and will be reviewing them until the deadline in April. <br /> Ms. Olson stated there was one Eagle Scout project planned for this spring, which involved catch <br /> basins in the Lake Johanna neighborhood. She added that he would be creating an educational <br /> brochure that would be handed out to many neighborhoods that discusses storm water and catch <br /> basins, describing the pollutants that can go into the lakes. <br /> Ms. Olson indicated the Spring/Summer guide was out with registration also being taken online. <br /> She noted the Park CIP received direction from Council at last night's meeting and would be <br /> brought back to the Committee after revisions were complete. <br /> C. Parks Trails and Recreation Committee Comments and Requests <br /> Mr. Messerly asked if the prairie grass at Creapeau Park could be mowed this year. He indicated <br /> it was full of tree Poplar seedlings. Ms. Olson stated she would suggest this to public works and <br /> have them add to their work schedule. <br /> 6. NEXT MEETING—Tuesday,April 21, 2009 <br /> The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 6:3 0 p.m. <br /> 7. ADJOURNMENT <br /> MOTION: Committee Member Baumann motioned to adjourn and Committee Member <br /> Hilgers seconded. The meeting adjourned at 8:3 6 p.m. <br />
