<br /> RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF BEAVER LAKE COUNTY PARK IMPROVEMENTS
<br /> Community meetings have been held concerning the high number of vandalism
<br /> incidents in the park. Two design concepts were initially developed in response to these
<br /> concerns and presented at a community meeting. Each concept dealt with poor sight
<br /> lines from the street to the existing parking lot. Concept#1 eliminated the existing
<br /> parking lot and concept#2 eliminated half of the parking lot closest to the street. Further
<br /> review of these concepts at neighborhood meetings resulted in preparation of concept
<br /> #3. This concept retains the existing parking lot but adds a gate at the parking lot
<br /> entrance. Responsibility for locking and unlocking the gate has not been determined.
<br /> Additional improvements called for in this plan include relocating the electrical for the
<br /> lake aeration system and demolition of the existing restroom building, installation of
<br /> pedestrian lighting, repair of the fishing dock, correcting play area drainage, placing
<br /> more trash receptacles and restriping the parking lot. This concept was favored at a
<br /> public meeting held on August 14, 2008 in the park.
