ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION-AUGUST 17, 2009 6
Councilmember Holmes noted she had no objections to the name change if it
would help the community businesses but stated it should be made a part of the
redevelopment event.
Councilmember McClung agreed that the name change should be tied to
something tangible or else the benefits would be lost.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff indicated this discussion does tie
into the infrastructure improvements in the area. He stated staff would like
direction on the timing of these changes and the options for funding.
Councilmember McClung explained the guiding plan was developed to assist in
the redevelopment of the large parcels in the B2 district. He questioned how many
more years the Holiday Inn site had before it would be redeveloped.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff stated this site could be
redeveloped in two years, but there is no definitive timeline.
Councilmember McClung suggested the infrastructure improvements be pushed
out to the same time the Holiday Inn site would be redeveloped to have them all
tied together.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff stated this was part of his thinking
to work with the redevelopment of the site in conjunction with the engineering and -
construction of the roadway.
Councilmember Holden stated she did not want to see the County Road E
pedestrian/bike crossing over Highway 51 wait until that time as it was highly
dangerous at this time.
Councilmember McClung felt the County Road E Bridge was a separate issue and
would be completed before the rest of the zoning district.
Mayor Harpstead suggested that if the County Road E Bridge were to be
completed next year it would be great to have sidewalks completed to Pine Tree to
get the infrastructure started.
Discussion ensued regarding the Country Financial site.
