ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION-AUGUST 17 200 5
It was the consensus of the City Council to direct staff to keep in contact with the
developer and that this information be brought back to the Council action to
determine if this item should be on the September 14, 2009 agenda.
B. Guiding Plan for the B2 District - Update
Community Development Director Lehnhoff presented the City Council with
information on the guiding plan for the B2 district and the next steps that need to
be taken. He reviewed the memo in detail noting implementation steps.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff asked for feedback and comments
from the Council on a name change related to County Road E and on the
infrastructure improvements. He explained the EDC was in favor of removing
County Road E and putting Lake Johanna Boulevard in its place. Businesses in the
area would be supportive as it would change the map search engines, which was
challenging at this time.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff noted that Ramsey County would
be in support of a name change but that this would need to be discussed further to
see how this would affect the residential areas.
Mayor Harpstead stated a name change should be tangible and show progress and
could change the momentum of this area.
Councilmember Holden indicated the concerns of the business owners were valid
as their addresses were difficult to search online and suggested the homeowners be
approached personally about the change of the street name. Mayor Harpstead
agreed with this suggestion.
Councilmember Holmes questioned if the City of Shoreview should be contacted
about the proposed name change.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff indicated this was a possibility.
