1,000 Benches 1*n Ramse Count <br /> Y Y <br /> MISSION <br /> Active Living Ramsey County!will facilitate the placement of 1,000 benches <br /> made of recycled materials in a series of corridors connecting <br /> destinations throughout the County. <br /> VISION <br /> The 1,000 benches effort will create a physical environment to promote <br /> physical activity by facilitating "pathways to health," that serve especially <br /> the elderly, people with physical disabilities and people with small <br /> children. <br /> OBJECTIVES <br /> 1. By July 1, 2007, Ramsey County will implement two pilot programs, <br /> using a total of approximately 20 benches at a cost up to $25,000. <br /> 2. By the end of 2010: <br /> a. Place 1,000 benches on corridors that connect destinations; <br /> b. Facilitate the creation of 50— 100 different corridors, with 10— 20 <br /> benches in each; <br /> c. Place benches throughout all geographic areas of Ramsey County. <br /> MILESTONES <br /> 1. Procure benches that use recycled products, stimulate the recycling of <br /> plastic materials and provide a venue to promote recycling programs <br /> in Ramsey County. _ <br /> 2. Design the bench program based on evaluation of pilot program(s), <br /> with a Request for Application WA) to the County Board for full <br /> implementation in the summer of 2007. The program will be <br /> implemented using a 50-50 cost-share approach with local partners. <br /> 3. Effectively communicate active living and environmental/nature <br /> messages using a communications strategy, targeted to various <br /> audiences, following completion of the pilot program. <br /> 7ALRC <br /> Active Living Ramsey County <br />
