2 <br /> 2. Significant Accomplishment- Often an employee is charged <br /> with the responsibility or assumes the responsibility of <br /> completing a significant goal, activity, or project. Frequently - <br /> the completion of such a project has a major impact on the <br /> operations of the department or the City as a whole. This <br /> category recognizes employees for such accomplishments. <br /> The ERC announced the Employee of the Year at an all employee luncheon on Tuesday, <br /> January 5, 2010. The 2009 Employee of the Year is Pete Saxe from Public Works. <br /> The following are a few of the comments included on the nominations for Pete: <br /> 0 Pete has shown every day to have a high level of dependability, <br /> reliability, responsibility and integrity. <br /> • He never complains about the jobs he is given and always has a <br /> smile on his face. <br /> 0 As a Public Works employee, he shows a positive image to the <br /> general public. <br /> • "I have the highest regard for the job that Pete does and he is very <br /> deserving of this recognition." <br /> • Pete accepted the challenge and provided excellent, proactive <br /> maintenance to our parks this past summer when he was asked to <br /> coordinate the summer mowing crew and supervise seasonal staff. <br /> • Pete has consistently demonstrated a high level of dependability, and <br /> has provided exemplary service to the City. <br /> • In 2009, Pete not only continued his high quality performance, but <br /> also took on the leadership of the seasonal park maintenance staff. <br /> Under his leadership, the operation of the seasonal maintenance crew <br /> was changed from a focus on park mowing to a focus on <br /> comprehensive maintenance of each park at the time of each <br /> mowing. This significantly improved the level of park maintenance <br /> and park facilities. Pete's focus on quality results and his leadership <br /> ability ensured the new operational method was successful. <br /> Recognition for Year's of Service. <br /> The Employee Recognition Committee recognized three individuals for Year's of Service. <br /> The policy states that employees shall be recognized for every five (5) years of <br /> employment with the City. Employees shall receive a certificate from the City recognizing <br /> them for their years of service.
