AR-DEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—December 14, 2009 24
7C. Approve the 2010 Capital Improvement Plan; Motion to Adopt Resolution
2009-040 Adopting the Proposed 2010 Budget; Motion to Adopt Resolution 2009-
041 Setting the Final Levy for Taxes Payable in 2010 (continued)
Councilmember Holmes asked if the City reduced the proposed levy, would we
then be eliminating something from the budget or if this levy reduction was just
being put out there and the City would need to find cost savings equal to this
amount.
Mayor Harpstead stated that the City has two options. The City could just reduce
the amount of revenue and let the fund balance decrease by this amount or the City
could make up these funds in another revenue line. The motion at this time does
not change the budget.
Finance Director Iverson stated this could be addressed with the surplus that the
City usually has at the end of the year.
Councilmember Holden stated the City could also find other options of cost
savings to account for this reduction.
The motion to amend Resolution 200-041 was called to a vote.
The motion carried (3-2).
Ayes: Councilmembers McClung, Grant, Holden
Nays:Mayor Harpstead, Councilmember Holmes
The amended motion was called to a vote.
The motion carried (3-2).
Ayes: Mayor Harpstead and Councilmembers Grant, Holden
Nays:Councilmembers McClung, and Holmes
Councilmember Holmes suggested moving Item 8B in front of Item 8A.
8.
