......... ............ -E HI ... .. ..N L:IS ....... - Draft CITY OF ARDEN HILLS PARKS, TRAILS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2010 6:30 PM ARDEN HILLS CITY HALL CALL MEETING TO ORDER Chair Peck called the February 23, 2010,meeting of the Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee to order at 6:3 6 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Committee Chair John Peck, Committee Members NancyO'Malley, y, Cindy Garretson, Jody Hilgers, and Rich Straumann. OTHERS PRESENT: Park and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson, Council Liaison David Grant. Council Member Dave McClung joined arrived at 7:45 p.m. MEMBERS NOT PRESENT: Don Messerly, Harold Petersen, and Steve Scott 1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA MOTION: Committee Member Straumann motioned to approve the agenda pp g en as presented, seconded by Committee Member Garretson. The motion carried unanimously. y 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES—JANUARY 10,2010 Chair Peck indicated that Council Member Messerly would like the last under Item 3 to paragraph read, "one of the best drained parks in the cam,"instead of"one of the best drained parks in the state. MOTION: Committee Member Straumann motioned to approve the January 10 2010 minutes a pp y � s amended, seconded by Committee Member Hilgers. The motion carried unanimously. 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Pro_i ect Updates 1. ARRA—Elmer L. Andersen Memorial Trail Connections Ms. Olson indicated that the Council approved the contract from American Liberty Construction for the Elmer L. Andersen Memorial Trail Connections Project (Safe Routes to School Project). Liberty Construction came in at about $458,000-459 000 for the construction cost, which is approximately 10 percent under the preliminary y estimate. Ms. Olson indicated Council would like an estimate of what the City's cost will be after deducting contributions from Boston Scientific. Ms. Olson informed the committee that construction will start this spring and that the City received good
