ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—March 8, 2010 10
6.A. Planning Case #09-021 Arden Village, LLC (Jamie Thelen) 1296 County Road F —
Conditional Use Permit Amendment, Rezoning, and Comprehensive Plan Amendment,
Preliminary and Final Plat, and Master and Final Planned Unit Development(continued)
The motion failed 1-4.
Ayes: Mayor Harpstead -
Nays: Councilmember Holmes, Grant, Holden, McClung
Councilmember Holden clarified that if the City wants something it needs to be included in the
PUD. The City needs to keep its costs down. There was no problem passing this with the
Northwestern College PUD for the Holiday Inn site. The City Attorney did not disagree with it at
that time. If there is a problem the City Council can always make an amendment.
Mayor Harpstead stated he did not see this recommendation as being necessary but he does also
agree that the City needs to have a citywide policy.
The motion to Add Recommendation 17 was called to a vote.
The motion failed 2-3
Ayes: Councilmembers Holden, Grant
Nays: Mayor Harpstead, Councilmembers McClung, Holmes
MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Councilmember Grant seconded a motion
to Add Recommendation 17- Arden Village put a six (6) foot fence on the east
side of their property and around the Land O'Lakes cooling tower.
Community Development Director Lehnhoff suggested the language "subject to the approval of
Land O'Lakes"be added to the motion.
Councilmember Holden accepted this recommendation to the motion and amended her motion.
MOTION: Councilmember Holden and Councilmember Grant seconded a motion to Add
Recommendation 17- Arden Village put a six (6) foot fence on the east side of
their property and around the Land O'Lakes cooling tower subject to the
approval of Land O'Lakes.
Councilmember Holden stated this is important and corporate entities needed to be kept safe and
they should not have to incur additional costs for security.
Mayor Harpstead stated he would agree with this.
Councilmember Holmes asked if the fence should run the full length of the east side and include
lot 2 since it is the same owner.
