Parks,Trails&Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes March 16,2010 <br /> Page 4 <br /> Ms. Olson suggested that another possibility would be to-have pontoon rides at <br /> Presbyterian Homes and will check with the City Attorney to see if there would be any <br /> legal issues with this type of activity. - <br /> Chair Peck asked if they would be highlighting any of the City Committees, like the <br /> PTRC, at the event. Ms. Olson indicated that could be an aspect but in the past has been <br /> difficult to man. Ms. Olson also indicated they had discussed having a canned food drive <br /> where one would donate an item in order to participate in an activity. She mentioned that <br /> for the Presbyterian Homes portion of the event, the City has the courtyard reserved for <br /> the event and in case of inclement weather the events would be moved inside the facility. <br /> 5. REPORTS <br /> A. Council Update <br /> Council Liaison Grant discussed the County Road E bridge. The City is waiting to hear <br /> back on our STP Grant Application. The first round of funding did not include our project <br /> and their will be another round of funding decided in the next few weeks. The City is the <br /> second highest scoring pedestrian bridge project on the list to be considered. <br /> Council Liaison Grant mentioned the MnDOT—Hamline Avenue and 694 Open House <br /> that was held and a preferred option was chosen at the March 8th Council Meeting. The <br /> preferred option does not appear to be on the website. Council Liaison Grant requested - <br /> that staff post that on the web site for residents to be able to review. <br /> Council Liaison Grant gave an update on the potential Arden Village Development work <br /> force housing) that came to Council on March 8th. This is for work force housing right <br /> next to Land O Lakes on County Road F. Council approved the Development Application. <br /> The management company will now need to apply for tax increment financing. They feel <br /> confident that they will be successful in this next round of applications for this. _ <br /> B. Public Works/Parks and Recreation Report <br /> Ms. Olson reported she has received three quotes for the Cummings Park project. <br /> irrigation 'ect. <br /> g p <br /> This will be brought to the March 29th City Council meeting pp for approval. <br /> Ms. Olson reported that she and Chair Peck met with Bruce Kunkel from Bethel regarding <br /> g g <br /> partnering with the City on the CP Rail Project but he informed them the school is now <br /> facing significant budget cuts. Ms. Olson indicated Mr. Kunkel was going to approach the <br /> president to see what, if any, support they could give. Ms. Olson mentioned the school is <br /> eligible for several more grants than the City and that Mr. Kunkel indicated Bethel could <br /> possibly apply for a grant for that area. Ms. Olson informed she has not heard back from <br /> Mr. Kunkel and would be contacting him. She mentioned that Bethel is supportive of <br /> assisting the City as much as they can but she does not know what form this will come in. <br /> Chair Peck asked where they were at with the funding. Ms. Olson mentioned that the CIP <br /> shows state aid as their funding and there is a variance that shows the City <br /> y can use y <br />
