Boy Scout Proiect Idea Discussion Ms. Olson mentioned she received a brochure from Rich Straumann and that there were several Arden Hills Eagle Scouts who were honored at a recent ceremony. One was honored for a catch-basin painting project, another for a bench project and one for a - buckthorn removal project. She mentioned she does have an Eagle Scout that is - researching a bird feeder project at Crepeau Park Preserve and is very impressed with his work thus far. Ms. Olson indicated that Committee Member Garretson had several suggestions for projects. One project was to clean or spruce up an Arden Hills park; however,Ms. Olson wondered if this was considered a maintenance project since those are not allowed as Eagle Scout projects. Another project Ms. Garretson suggested was to create a rain garden at a drainage point in one of the parks. Ms. Olson feels that if the timing is right it is something that could be done in the future. Ms. Garretson also suggested g aintin the painting catch basins but, again, Ms. Olson feels this falls under maintenance. The last project she suggested was to create identification markers for poison ivy. Chair Peck indicated that this had been done in the past. Ms. Olson expressed she was in favor of this idea. Chair Peck indicated he feels construction and placement of trail signage would be a good project. He also asked if there was a project that could be done for placing bike racks. Ms. Olson indicated she is not sure if they need more bike racks in the parks. Discussion ensued regarding the bike racks. E. Unfinished Business Council Member Messerly complimented Ms. Olson on her grant writing skills. 4. NEW BUSINESS A. Clean-Up Day—Saturday,April 17, 2010 Ms. Olson indicated the will be doing their 2nd annual clean-up day which will take Y g p Y place at the Tony Schmidt Regional Park from 9:00-11:30 am on April 1 7th. She indicated they will be meeting at the beach building at 8:45 am and would appreciate any assistance the committee members could offer. Chair Peck felt they should work on the - north side of the road up to the first driveway because of the debris in that area. Ms. Olson feels this is a good park to clean since Celebrating Arden Hills will be held there. B. Other New Business Ms. Olson informed that Celebrating Arden Hills will be held on September 18 from 3:00-8:00 pm. She indicated she met with Ramsey County regarding keeping the road open. She stated if they close the road it will be a large expense for the City and they would like to avoid that. Ms. Olson mentioned the committee would like to utilize the community more(i.e; possibly having the canine unit and fire department come and do an activity and have a - water obstacle course for the kids). She indicated the Committee is also working with Presbyterian Homes as a second site where they would host an art/music type event. She informed that Presbyterian Homes would be willingto shuttle folks between the ark and P their facility.
