ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—March 29, 2010 4
4. Consent Calendar(continued)
F. Approve Resolution 2010-016 for an Exempt Charitable Gambling Permit for
Fishing for Life G. Approve Resolution 2010-020 for the Appointment of John Braun to the Financial
Planning and Analysis Committee
MOTION: Councilmember Grant moved and Councilmember Holden seconded a motion
to approve the Consent Calendar and to authorize execution of all necessary
documents contained therein. The motion carried unanimously (5-0).
5. PULLED CONSENT ITEMS
None.
6. PUBLIC HEARINGS
None.
7. NEW BUSINESS
A. Award the Cummings Park Irrigation Installment to Village Plumbing, Inc. in
the Amount of $1,616.00 for the Plumbing Installation; Anderson Irrigation,
Inc. in the Amount of $13,867.75 for the Irrigation; Plus an Additional
Amount of$850.00 for a City-Purchased Water Meter. Total Project Cost Not
to Exceed $16,333.75.
Parks and Recreation Manager Michelle Olson stated at the November 16, 2009 City Council
worksession, it was the consensus of the Council to include irrigation at Cummings Park in the
2010 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The initial estimate in the 2010 CIP was based on
watering the two sports fields exclusively. The PTRC and the Council both stated they would like
to see areas around the pavilion and general park included. As a result of these discussions, the
project scope was increased to include the areas surrounding the pavilion and general park areas.
The irrigation installation and the plumbing for this project have been separated in order to receive
the best possible cost estimate. The combined total of the two lowest bids is $15,483.75. A new
water meter will also be needed to complete this project. The overall project cost is estimated to
be $16,333.75. The Special Revenue Park Fund includes $17,000 for this project.
Councilmember McClung asked what the balance is currently in the Special Revenue Park Fund.
Parks and Recreation Manager Olson stated there are some changes coming up with the use of
this fund and the PIR fund may be utilized for this project. The Special Revenue Park Fund does
not have as much in it as it has in the past. She clarified that she does not have the actual balance
of the Special Revenue Park Fund at this time.
Councilmember Holden asked how long the bid was good for.
