ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL—March 29, 2010 6 <br /> 7.A. Award the Cummings Park Irrigation Installment to Village Plumbing, Inc. in the Amount <br /> of$1,616.00 for the Plumbing Installation; Anderson Irrigation, Inc. in the Amount of <br /> $13,867.75 for the Irrigation; Plus an Additional Amount of$850.00 for a City-Purchased <br /> Water Meter. Total Project Cost Not to Exceed$16,333.75. (continued) - <br /> Councilmember Holden asked if the sprinkler heads would be aProblem when the park is <br /> aerated. <br /> Public Works Director Hoag stated the sprinkler heads would need to be marked prior to <br /> aeration taking place. <br /> MOTION: Councilmember Grant moved and Mayor Har stead seconded a. motion to <br /> Award the Cummings Park Irrigation Installment to Village Plumbin2, Inc. in <br /> the Amount of $1 616.00 for the Plumbing Installation• Anderson Irri ation <br /> Inc. in the Amount of $13 867.75 for the Irrigation; Plus an Additional <br /> Amount of $850.00 for a City-Purchased Water Meter for a Total Project <br /> Cost Not to Exceed $16,333.75. <br /> Councilmember Grant asked if the City would be doing the sprinkler blowout in the fall. <br /> Public Works Director Hoag stated the City currently blows out other y <br /> on irri ati systems in the - <br /> g <br /> City and they have the proper equipment for this. <br /> Councilmember Grant clarified that Cummings Park will be aerated, fertilized and irrigated <br /> with this project. <br /> Councilmember Holmes asked if there has been any fertilization or aeration at Perry Park. <br /> Public Works Director Hoag stated there has not been any fertilization done at Perry Park for the <br /> last several years but the park has been aerated. The City has been aerating the sports fields but <br /> not general park areas. <br /> Councilmember McClung stated he would not support this motion at this time. He does not <br /> agree with this project being included in the 2010 CIP because of the cost in relation to the <br /> amount of funds available in the Special Revenue Park Fund. The Citydoes not have a plan on <br /> how to finance park improvements moving forward and until there is a comprehensive review of <br /> park maintenance and a set policy for maintenance he would not be able to support this project. <br /> pP P roJ <br /> Councilmember Grant stated this particular field is in need of maintenance and does need to be <br /> improved. Residents use this park and these residents are paying park fees for soccer and other <br /> sports. The residents of Arden Hills deserve to have a park that they can utilize and be safe on. <br /> The parks and trails are important to the City. The proposed amount is not excessive for what the <br /> City trying to gain. <br /> The motion was called to a vote. <br /> The motion carried (4-1). <br />
