EN HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: July 26, 2010 <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br />FROM: Kristine Giga, Civil Engineer <br />Michelle Olson, Parks and Recreation Manager/Acting Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Lexington Avenue Sidewalk Projects: <br />Project A— New Lexington Avenue Sidewalk <br />Project B— Reconstruct Existing Lexington Avenue Trail <br />Action Req uest <br />Motion to authorize Staff to contract with MFRA, Inc. to prepare final plans and specifications <br />as well as provide construction services to construct a new sidewalk between Grey Fox Road and <br />CP Railroad crossing along Lexington Avenue and to reconstruct the existing trail between <br />Cummings Park Drive and County Road F along Lexington Avenue for an amount not to exceed <br />$16,970. <br />Back�round <br />The 2010-2014 Arden Hills Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) proposed a new sidewalk and a trail <br />reconstruction along Lexington Avenue in 2010 (see attached map). Both projects work to <br />implement the City's 2030 Comprehensive Plan. A request for quotes was issued for projects to <br />complete plans, specifications, and provide construction monitoring for both projects. The costs <br />for the two projects would be tracked separately, and one project can proceed without the other if <br />needed. <br />Project A: New Sidewalk Const�uction <br />The CIP proposed to construct an approximately 9G0 foot long, eight foot wide concrete <br />sidewalk along the west side of Lexington Avenue from the Canadian Pacific Railroad <br />crossing to the traffic signal at Grey Fox Road.
