Advertise for Public Works Maintenance Worker (continued) <br /> MOTION: Councilmember Holden moved and Mayor Harpstead seconded a motion to <br /> Authorize Staff to proceed with the hiring of an eighth maintenance worker. <br /> Councilmember Holden stated the Public Works department has had an increase in workload <br /> with the I&I, storm pond dredging, trees, field maintenance, etc. An additional worker would <br /> assist in completing this work. <br /> Councilmember Grant hoped Mr. Mooney would be able to increase the effectiveness of the <br /> Public Works Department and suggested the eighth hire hold off until after hiring a Public Works <br /> Director. He stated he would not support the additional hire. <br /> Councilmember McClung indicated he would support the additional hire as it would bring the <br /> City back to its original Public Works capacity. <br /> Councilmember Holden stated the additional hire would reduce the increased overtime that the <br /> department has seen in the past several years. <br /> Councilmember Grant questioned if all overtime would be eliminated with this hire. <br /> Finance Director Iverson stated the overtime would not be eliminated but should be less as there <br /> still are emergencies within the City. <br /> Councilmember Holden expected that overtime should be reduced and used only for <br /> emergencies or standby time. <br /> 8. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> A. Arden Village Workforce Housing Proposal — Updated Letter of Support for <br /> the Housing Tax Credit Application <br /> Community Development Director James Lehnhoff stated the Council was being asked to <br /> consider approving an updated letter of support for Sand Companies, Inc.'s housing tax credit <br /> application to the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency for the a 55-unit workforce housing unit <br /> called Arden village at 1296 County Road F for an amount not to exceed $225,000 or $575,000. <br /> Sand Companies was seeking local funding at one of the two amounts, Option 1 would not <br /> include the communications tower, while Option 2 would. An additional waiver was being <br /> requested to reduce the SAC/WAC fees by $2,000 as this would add an additional point to the tax <br /> credit application. Ramsey County would contribute $35,000 to the project. He explained the <br /> Finance Planning and Analysis Committee reviewed bath options and felt both were viable <br /> options for the City. <br />
