Ms. <br /> Olson mentioned that currently there is no money in the budget for lighting but that this <br /> could be budgeted for at some point in the future. <br /> B. 694/Hwy 51 Resolution Update <br /> Ms. Olson informed that she did prepare a resolution of support for 694/Hwy 51 per <br /> PTRC's recommendation. She indicated that Council was in support of and did pass the <br /> resolution. Ms. Olson mentioned that she did write a letter to Ramsey County attaching <br /> the resolution and encouraged them to do some kind of support letter or resolution as <br /> well. She will also be sending this to Mn/DOT this week. Ms. Olson asked Committee <br /> Member Straumann to give an update on what Ramsey County had discussed at their <br /> meeting. <br /> Committee Member Straumann reported he did provide an informational packet that <br /> included trail maps for the Active Living Ramsey County meeting.. He indicated that at <br /> the commission there was a consensus all were supportive of communities connecting to <br /> the regional trails and that Greg Mack would be submitting a letter to that affect. <br /> Committee Member Straumann indicated the project engineer that is working on this <br /> project and the Hwy 10 and 96 project, had mentioned there might be some money to do <br /> g Y <br /> the bridge over 35W. Discussion ensued regarding the e bridge and the interchange <br /> g <br /> between 694 and Hamline. Ms. Olson stated that no plans had been finalized because <br /> Mn/DOT will need municipal consent. <br /> C. Project Updates <br /> 1. Elmer L.Andersen Memorial Trail Connections/Safe Routes to School: <br /> Ms. Olson gave an update on the Elmer L. Andersen Memorial Trail Connections <br /> trail. She hopes this will be completed by the end of June or mid-July. Ms. Olson <br /> mentioned that in the fall she plans on working with the school to do a rand opening <br /> g p g <br /> of the trail and also coordinate a "Walk to School Day" where the students are <br /> dropped off at Perry Park, or at another location, and then can walk the trail to school <br /> Committee Member Scott asked Ms. Olson if they had discussed the speed limit <br /> while writing this grant. Ms. Olson indicated this is something that would be difficult <br /> to change and often if it speed limits are challenged, they go up Y because the take an <br /> average of the speeds that people are driving. She indicated they did discuss the <br /> school zoning but decided the most effective way to deal with speed would be with <br /> the speed monitoring signs. Ms. Olson hopes the trail will encourage students to walk <br /> or bike and will keep the students off of E2. <br /> 2. Lexington Avenue Extension/Resurface: <br /> Ms. Olson provided an update on the Lexington Avenue extension. She indicated <br /> they had approved an agreement for a special assessment waiver wherebythe City <br /> Y <br /> would assess Shannon Square and Cub, if they agree to 50 percent of the cost to <br /> extend the trail from Arden Hall (old Holiday Inn) to Grey Fox Road, and they in turn <br /> would agree not to appeal. She stated the next step is to et quotes for engineering <br /> g q g g <br />
