EN HILLS <br />MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: September 13, 2010 <br />TU: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />Patrick Klaers, City Administrator <br />FROM: Matt Woodruff, Civil Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Snelling Avenue Improvements (TH 51 to County Road E) <br />• Authorize consultant contract for engineering services <br />Back�round/Discussion <br />The City's Public Works and Engineering staff have initiated preliminary investigations <br />for various roadway improvement alternatives for Snelling Avenue, from Trunk Highway <br />51 to County Road E. To assist City staff with this proj ect, a scope of work was prepared <br />for completing the data collection (topographic survey), mapping the existing condition <br />features, analyzing the existing bridge, and providing a bridge improvement <br />recommendation. City staff reviewed proposals submitted by firms in its municipal <br />engineering pool as well as selected surveying companies and we axe recorrimending <br />Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for this work. <br />Proposals were submitted by the following firms. This contract will be a not to exceed <br />cost based on actual hours spent on the proj ect. The proposal amounts are listed below: <br />Consultant Surveying Services Bridge Services <br />Kimley-Horn $8,670 $3,923 <br />Bolton & Menk $10,890 $8,368 <br />Elfering & Associates $9,900 - <br />Anderson-Passe $14,320 - <br />Hult & Hebeisen $29,000 - <br />Kemper & Associates $29,500 - <br />WSB & Associates - - <br />City staff separated the scope of work into surveying services and bridge services and <br />allowed the various consultants to submit proposals for the work that they wish to <br />perform.
