Ms.
Falkowski moved, seconded by Mr. Jenni, that the minutes of June 9, 2010 be approved
as mailed. Motion carried.
STATE OF THE PARKS REPORT
Mr. Mack noted that the resolution establishing the Parks and Recreation Commission
prescribes that the Commission prepare a State of the Parks Report. He reviewed the
format of past reports. The most recent report was the 2006-.2008 Report that was
presented in a pictorial format demonstrating on a county map improvement projects
that had involved the Parks and Recreation Commission. That report also included a
list of special projects and the Commission's perspective on challenges and
opportunities facing the Ramsey County Parks and Recreation system. Mr. Mack
suggested an alternative format to identify, in narrative fashion, the major projects that
have involved the Parks and Recreation Commission. The format could incorporate
photographs of project elements. It was the consensus of the Commission members
that this format is appropriate. Mr. Mack requested that Commission members share
their perspectives on Ramsey County Parks and Recreation services and collectively
present the Commission's view of future challenges and opportunities for the system.
Mr. Mack agreed to provide a summary of Commission activities for review at the
October Commission meeting. Chair Straumann agreed to coordinate Commission
comments.
1
