residents to take to address the traffic problems in their neighborhoods. She clarified
there would be changes to the neighborhoods but this planning case warranted approval.
Chair Thompson stated this project has been in front of the commission for many months.
She stated the Planning Commission is not aware of the meetings or conversations that
may have occurred in Roseville but does know there have been many meetings in Arden
Hills.
After audience interruptions, Chair Thompson reminded the audience the public hearing
had been closed and no additional public comment would be accepted.
Chair Thompson stated the Commissioners have walked the neighborhoods and can
appreciate the changes these residents will have. The proposed project addressed the
water runoff before it gets to Lake Johanna and this is an improvement and even though
the taller buildings will be visible these buildings will be attractive and the changes in the
design have allowed for less of a footprint than was originally proposed. This project
will be a benefit for the community.
Commissioner Hames stated there are 396 residents that will benefit immediately from
the project and these people are also residents whose input needs to be considered.
Commissioner Holewa stated the Planning Commission has listened to the residents and
respect the information and concerns they have presented. This project provides benefits
to the community that need to be considered as well.
After audience interruptions, Chair Thompson again reminded the audience the public
hearing had been closed and no additional public comment would be accepted.
Commissioner Zimmerman stated he concurred with the other commissioners. He
clarified Presbyterian Homes has been sensitive to neighborhoods and they should not be
penalized for traffic problems that preexist this application.
The motion was called to a vote.
The motion carried (6 -1).
Ayes: Chair Thompson, Commissioners Modesette, Zimmerman, Holewa, Reiff,
and Hames
Nays: Commissioner Scott
