"get out the vote" issue. If you are not al-
ready registered to vote, you can do so on
E election day, November 79 at your polling place.
ballot.
• • • After all the trouble Ramsey County had
with the absentee ballots in the primary, per-
haps some review of the system is called for.
lIn order to vote by absentee ballot, you first have to make application for such
a ballot. You can get these applications from'the County Election Bureau, Room
185 City Hall, St. Paul, Mn. 551029 298-4'181. If you are not a registered voter,
e sure and say so on this application. (If there's not a place for it, make
a note. The gal at the Bureau said some of the new application forms were mis-
rinted and the question about being registered or not was left off by mistake.
1pood grief.
Anyway, once you return this application, you will receive. your absentee
ballot, plus the form to register to vote if that was requested. You must do
our absentee voting in the presence of a Notary Public, a U.S. Postmaster or
clerk in charge of a postal station, or any officer having authority to admin-
ister an oath. It's also OK to vote in the presence of any eligible voter from
tour own county that has voted in the last four years. The only trick to all
his is that you have to allow enough time for your ballot to get back to the
County and then from there to your precinct by November 7•
If you know you will be out of town on election day, you can go down to
'the Courthouse now, make your application for absentee ballot, get it right
there, and vote, all at once. The absentee ballot voting booths will be open
at the Courthouse weekdays after October 30, plus Saturday morning on Nov. 4.
Now, if you get really jammed up for time and are confused by all this,
Charlotte McNeish, our Clerk -Administrator at the Arden Hills Village Hall has
said that she will also have a supply of absentee ballots on hand. She will be
ilad to assist you in any way she can, so if you have a voting problem, just
give the Village Hall a call, 633-5676•
' As you all probably know, the election on November 7 will decide for
Arden Hills who will be mayor for the next two years. The two candidates for
Lhis office are the incumbent,Henry J. Crepeau, Jr. and the challenger Maryann
enson.
There are also two council seats to be filled this election, each of them
running for four years. We have six candidates for these two positionss in-
cumbents Bob Woodburn and Charlie Crichton, plus challengers Howard Pipkorn,
