City Administrator Larson reported that the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust insures
the City for among other things, land use liability. This coverage would defend the City against
claims of improper handling of zoning requests, variances and conditional uses. The insurance has
a very high deductible which can be reduced if members of Council and the Planning & Zoning
Commission take on-line training offered by the League. All present agreed to take the training.
Staff will register them for training and then forward instructions.

2. Council Member King

Council Member King had been researching Smart Meter/Grid Technology and suggested Council
Members and the public do their own research as there are groups opposing this technology.

Council Member King also reported there are currently studies being completed as to the amount
of fluoride actually being needed in municipal water systems and potentially being lowered or
eliminated. Public Works Director Palzer stated that the amount is dictated by the state and the
City of Centerville follows the low end of the guidelines.

3. Council Member Fehrenbacher

Council Member Fehrenbacher updated the Council on the Police Governing Board interviewing
the 3 top candidates for the position of Police Chief.

4. Council Member Paar

Council Member Paar updated the Council on Chief Streich’s report to the Fire Steering
Committee.

XI. ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Paar to adjourn the
February 9, 2011, City Council Meeting at 7:30 p.m. All in favor. Motion carried
unanimously.

Transcribed by: City Staff
