Rob Faust
Eagle Scout Project Plan
The City of Centerville is building a new park in front of St. Geniveve's church called
Cornerstone Park. Originally, there was a flagpole in the park plan, but it was deleted
due to financial reasons. My project is to install the flagpole that was in the city plan. My
project plan includes 5 parts.
1. Flagole Refurbishment
Plan: The city already has a flagpole that was given to them by another city.lt is 30 feet
tall. The pole is in pretty good shape but we will have to polish it. I will have to refurbish
the flagpole. We will polish the pole and I will ask Public Works to jackhammer the
concrete off.
items to purchase
none
Tools/Supplies
Polish-(donated by veteran)
Rags-(abrasive?)
Labor:
I will ask Public Works to jack hammer the concrete off of the pole
1 will need about 5 or 6 scouts and 1 or 2 adults to help me polish the pole. i
It should take about 3 hours.
2. Flagpole installation
Plan: To install a 30 ft flagpole, you dig a hole about 3.5 feet deep and about 30"
diameter. Next, you put the sleeve in the hole and level the sleeve and fill the hole with
concrete. After it is dried, you put the pole in the sleeve with sand. Additional details are
attached. I have the flag. There are remaining ropes on the flag.
Items to Purchase
Ground sleeve $109.00
18 bags of concrete-at $3.54 63.72
4-5 bags of sand-at $3.10 15.50
Total Cost $188.22
Toolsupplies
Enough shovels for everyone that comes to have one
At least 2 post hole diggers
Measuring tape
Wheelbarrow
