up new trail signs for several months. In general, the committee wants to pattern Centerville's signs after
those used in the county park.
The county park signage is very ixnpressive. Well worth copying at the city level. What we want to do
is place signs with similar design in Centerville's new Cornerstone Park and where trail users enter
Centeiville from RCCLRP and from the east on the trail adjacent to County Road 14 (Main Street). We may
also place signs in other City parks. Centerville signs will probably use a map similar to the County's but
with the City of Centerville in the center of the sign rather than the regional park.
Could you provide some basic information about the signs?
1) I noticed that there is a bit of advertising for Blue Cross Blue Shield. Did Blue Cross / Blue Shield pay
for the signage or contribute to the cost? Who did the County work with at Blue Cross/Blue Shield? Do you
have their contact information?
We worked with them, as a part of the Step up to Health partnership agreemen They allowed certain
park agencies to utilize their graphics, capturing some of the marketing and call to action ideas presented
in the "do" campaign. We thought that it brought some instant recognition to the signs
2) Who was your project officer? Could we have their contact information?
At Blue Cross we worked with Sandy - she could be reached here -Sandv K Leuthner(u,bluecrossmn.com
3) How expensive were the signs? Is this project affordable at the City level?
I think that %aren could help here - we did them in two parks. The metal for the signs and the printing
was provided by our highway department, and that cost was about I100. (%aren feel free to correct me.) I
The posts themselves were the most expensive part, and %aren could provide you with who we used, and
their specific costs, per the details that we created I think that they could be simplified a bdt more even, to
help your budge
4) One idea that I have considered is to make trail signage an Eagle Scout Project. We are about to complete
our third Eagle Scout project over the past two years. It is a nice way to accomplish smaller projects and at
the same time support Centerville youth. Do you think trail signage could be managed as an Eagle Scout
project or is that too ambitious?
I haven't done much with the Eagle Scouts directly. But I think if you have the signs all created, and what
they are working on is the fundraising and installation - absolutely!
Concession Stand at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park
Per Mike Jeziorski:
The little league baseball season has been extended and as such the Concession operation will be extended
too. The anticipated final concession stand operation date is 7/21/I1. I know everyone is eager to see the
operating results for the concession stand through June, but more than likely I wont have these completed
until 7/S/11 so I will forward those onto you when they become available.
