CLPD Newsletter 2011 <br /> COMMUNIT�' CONNECTION <br /> � � , � y �s� <br /> I =S �., � � . <br /> I Iii, � 3 � � <br /> , <br /> � <br /> � <br /> � <br /> r� �,,�, � <br /> ° .�� <br /> The Torch Run for Special Olvmpics <br /> The law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is the movement's largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness <br /> vehicle, raising $34 million for Special Olympics Programs around the world in 2010. At the most basic level, the Torch Run <br /> is an actual running event in which officers and athletes run the "Flame of Hope" to the Opening Ceremonies of local Special <br /> Olympics competitions, state/provincial Games and National and Summer and Winter Games. CLPD personnel that <br /> participated this year were: Officers J. Tarnowski and family and Officer A. Kruyer ad Family. Community Service Officer <br /> B. Austin. CLPD Traffic control: Officers B. Jacobson and J. Krueger, Sergeant R. Blanck, and Community Service Officer <br /> E. Also included as a token of the police department's appreciation toward the l <br /> volunteers were certificates, CERT pins, and new pieces of equipment to supplement their CERT kits. All 75 members were I <br /> invited to attend and there was a geat turnout for this event. Team members had a chance to meet and talk with other team <br /> members, see photos of training sessions, meet with police department personnel, and hear updates on the CERT program. We <br /> look forward to continuing training opportunities with the CERT team throughout 2011. Look for training Mondays starting in <br /> September! <br /> DUD�IC RECOGNITfON <br /> � s, <br /> Article in the Minnesota Cities Magazine: The League of Minnesota Cities magazine <br /> published an article entitled "Collaboration Success Stories" in their May-June 2011 edition. <br /> Centennial Lakes Police Departrnent is featured in an article and on the front cover of the <br /> .,�<: magazine. 7,500 copies of the Minnesota Cities magazine are distributed statewide.
