* A site plan for a bank has been delivered to City Hall. The
proposal is to build an approximately 3000 sq. ft. bank on the
site immediately just west of the entrance to Eagle Pass. The
proposal would include the removal of the current house, a
petition to vacate Clearwater Road and a request for a
rezoning.
* I had a meeting with a reporter from the New York Times on
Wednesday afternoon. He had flown in for a couple of hours to
tour the Eagle Pass development and is working on a story
about the "coving concept" in land use design. The article
will run in approximately a month.
* The new year has started with a number of changes. Robert
Westerlund started full -time on Monday. From early
indications, it appears that Robert will be a valuable
addition to the City. Robert Barron and Dale Larson's status
as part -time employees expired on Monday. I would recommend
purchasing plaques to recognize their years of service to the
City. Troy Bonkowske starts his new position with the City of
Caledonia on Monday.
* I had a meeting with representatives from Lino Lakes and the
owners of the proposed convenience store that is supposed to
be constructed by the Interchange. They have expressed
interest in having temporary connections to Centerville's
water and sewer system along 21st Avenue. I indicated that
the current policy would require the hook -up fees to be paid
to Centerville as if the building was going to be constructed
in Centerville. They have concerns about having to pay fees
to both communities for the same service. The hook -up fees
would be in the neighborhood of $20,000 - $25,000 depending on
Met Council's determination of SAC units. I indicated that
the City Council would have to make the decision on the issue
and that the Council would await to hear their future
proposal.
