CENTERVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> REGULAR MEETING MINUTES <br /> OCTOBER 20, 1998 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Centerville Economic Development <br /> Committee held their regular scheduled meeting on October 20, 1998- Chairperson <br /> Tim Rehbine called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Present: Theresa Brenner, Mary <br /> Capra arrived at 7:17, John Magill arrived at 7:17, James Bownik, and Aimee Fairbrother. <br /> Others present: Wayne Leblanc of 1677 Peltier Lake Drive. <br /> Approval Qf September 1998 Minutes.: <br /> Motion by John Magill to approve September minutes, subject to spelling correction for <br /> Tim Rehbine's name. Motion was seconded by Mary Capra. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Downtown Revitalization - ` <br /> A. Review of MN Design Team visit - Discussion was held between committee members <br /> that rated the visit a great success. Theresa Brenner stated that we have laminated copies <br /> of their ideas/plans, color slides, and a copy of the video from Saturday nights <br /> presentation at the school. Theresa Brenner also stated that Lucy Thompson and Penny <br /> Simonson from the Design Team will be contacting us for a six month follow -up visit. <br /> The Design Team is interested in a six month follow up to get feed back on how the <br /> community responded and also give additional advice. Several ideas for goal setting were <br /> discussed and will be brought up at the "Open House ". Wayne Leblanc stated that the <br /> reason that he attended the meeting tonight was to see what has been done so far, and <br /> inquire about how we take the next step. Theresa Brenner stated that we need to get the <br /> ideas out into the community and educate them on the suggestions that the design team <br /> had. There will be a follow -up article in the upcoming newsletter, as well as an article in <br /> the Hugonian. The Quad included a picture, and a "thank -you" note in dedication to the <br /> Design Team and all the volunteers that were involved in the visit. Mary Capra will also <br /> be putting together a thank -you letter for those people who donated money toward the <br /> Design Team Welcome banner. Tim Rehbine will get the addresses she needs. <br /> B. Open House <br /> Motion was made by Mary Capra to hold a follow up forum with the citizens and <br /> presenters on November 17, 1998. John Magill seconded the motion. Motion carried <br /> unanimously. There was a lengthy discussion about the open house that would allow <br /> residents to view the ideas and drawings created for Centerville by the Minnesota Design <br /> Team. It was decided that everybody; residents, presenters, volunteers, and city staff <br /> would be invited to the next EDC meeting. The meeting would be held on November 17, <br /> 1998, in the council chambers at City Hall. The meeting would begin as an open house, <br /> at 7:00 p.m. and proceed to a follow up discussion around 7:30. All the drawings would <br /> be displayed, and the room will be set up so that there is room to move around <br /> comfortably. <br />
