CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> DECEMBER 11, 1996 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the City of Centerville held a <br /> Truth and Taxation hearing and a regular scheduled council meeting on December 11, <br /> 1996, at the City Hall. Mayor Tom Wilbarber called the public hearing for Truth and <br /> Taxation to order at 6:05 PM. <br /> PRESENT: Tom Wilharber Theresa Brenner <br /> Sanna Buckbee Laura Powers- Rasmussen <br /> ABSENT: Mary Jo Helmbrecht <br /> STAFF /CONSULTANTS: Jim March Paul Palzer <br /> Ry -Chel Gaustad Dave Nyberg <br /> TRUTH AND TAXATION <br /> March reviewed the city's current status and past financial history. Statistics indicate the <br /> city dropped from the third highest to the number seven spot in regards to municipal tax <br /> rates. March explained, the proposed budget increased the levy by 5 percent. With <br /> additional revenue such as, antenna rental space contracts and a higher net tax capacity <br /> has helped reduce the municipal tax rate. March explained a graph of the 1996 <br /> expenditures and the proposed 1997 expenditures. <br /> Brenner questioned funding for capital improvement items. March explained, projects and <br /> purchases such as, replacing the snowplow and purchasing additional election supplies <br /> have been considered and fit into the 1997 budget. <br /> MOTION by Powers- Rasmussen, seconded by Brenner to close the Truth and Taxation <br /> public hearing at 6:10 PM. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Wilharber opened the regularly scheduled council meeting at 6:11 PM. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br /> November 13, 1996 council meeting minutes - <br /> MOTION by Brenner, seconded by Buckbee to table the November 13, 1996 <br />
