City Council Meeting January 22, 1997 <br /> Nyberg introduced Staff Engineer Susan Fussell of MSA, who has worked on the <br /> feasibility study presented tonight. Nyberg mentioned Susan will be working with Nyberg <br /> on several Centerville projects. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> DOER Pay Equity Report - March explained the city will submit the pay equity <br /> information to the state as discussed during the workshop, with no change. <br /> MOTION by Helmbrecht, seconded by Brenner to accept the Pay Equity Report. Motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> Newsletter - Gaustad reported a brief development update and that the business <br /> advertisements will be included in the newsletter. Brenner asked the actual budget figures <br /> for the major categories be included with the pie chart percentages. <br /> MOTION by Buckbee, seconded by Brenner to accept the newsletter with the noted <br /> changes. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Letter from Police Department - Wilharber addressed a letter received from Chief <br /> VanBurkleo regarding snowmobiles. Buckbee questioned the city's involvement since this <br /> is on the County Road. March mentioned the city will work with the county on this issue <br /> to see what can be done. Helmbrecht suggested Doug Koppy head of the areas <br /> snowmobile committee, should be contacted to see what can be done. Helmbrecht <br /> volunteered to get a letter off to Doug Koppy. Wilharber suggested addressing the <br /> Snowmobile Ordinance to agree with Lino Lakes, Circle Pines ordinance. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br /> Police Commission Meeting - <br /> Wilharber reported there was a decline in December traffic tickets because of the weather <br /> conditions. <br /> Wilharber also reported Officer Parks was in an accident causing about $5,000 damage. <br /> Officer Parks is doing okay, although he did pull a couple muscles in his back. <br /> Wilharber reported at the Police Commission Meeting there was an interesting discussion <br /> regarding smoking in the garage area. The Police Department no longer allows smoking <br /> in the garage area. <br /> Helmbrecht questioned smoking in city vehicles. Wilharber commented if a non- smoker <br /> gets into the vehicle after a smoker, it sure smells. Council feels no smoking should be <br /> allowed in the city vehicles. <br /> 4 <br />
