City Council meeting minutes of May 8, 1996
Earl Halley, 1740 Main Street, stated that this is dictatorship to say that they have to hook
up and pay a certain amount. Mr. Halley added that it would be $64.00 a foot for a $3200
assessment for his property.
Ms. Wyne requested that the council consider putting a cap on the charges for these
properties. For example not charging interest for seven years and keeping the WAC
charge at $1300 instead of having a future council change to a higher number.
Councilmember Buckbee stated that a council cannot change a levied assessment without
having a re- assessment hearing.
Mr. Nyberg stated the Ro -So Contracting is the prime contractor and he would most
likely sub out the landscaping.
Mr. Opp questioned if the WAC charge could be protested. If the city is making them
hook up instead of repairing a well system why couldn't the cost be contested. Mr.
Hellings stated that is generally set by Met Council.
Trudi Breuninger read the list of names that have turned in a letter of objection to the
proposed assessment.
