While this system provides an environmentally <br />friendly and aesthetically pleasing alternative to piped drainage systems, a more <br />attentive maintenance system is needed. Typical maintenance and cleaning <br />activities and schedules are as follows: <br /> <br />Activitv <br /> <br />Inspect drainage easements and ditches <br />for obstructions <br /> <br />Flush pipe drainage systems <br /> <br />Clean and regrade drainageways and swales <br /> <br />Reestablish pond bottoms in wet ponds <br /> <br />Inspect and repair storm sewer catch basins <br />and manholes <br /> <br />Brush out drainageways <br /> <br />Schedule <br /> <br />Once/year <br /> <br />Once/year <br /> <br />Once/1 0 years <br /> <br />Once/15 years <br /> <br />Once/year <br /> <br />Once/2 yeats <br /> <br />The City is currently looking into rainwater gardens as an alternate to cattails and weeds <br />in low lying areas in order to beautify the drainage swales in town. <br /> <br />9 <br />
