NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Syk <br />the proposed <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated that the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />had discussed the proposed changes to the Ordinance and recommended approval with <br />the only question being the 60 day waiting period. <br /> <br />Chief Heckman addressed Council and indicated that his department has not been able to <br />dispose of weapons since 1976 and the BCA has agreed to dispose of them for the City <br />and do all necessary investigations into ownership. He then said he is not concerned with <br />making the time frame longer but needs the change to. allow for disposal. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated she did not have an issue with the changes to the <br />firearms ordinance. She then said that there was concern over the goose hunting season <br />and people shooting geese off of Center Street. She also asked for information on what <br />type of ammunition and guns are allowed to be used for hunting in the City. <br /> <br />Chief Heckman indicated that the officers on duty at the time checked and the hunters <br />were in compliance with the ordinance. He then said he would need to review the <br />ordinance to determine what types of guns and ammunition are allowed for hunting. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked for clarification as to what time hunting can start in the <br />morning. An audience member indicated that hunting is allowed 30 minutes before <br />sunrise and 30 minutes after sundown. He then suggested contacting the DNR for further <br />information on the hunting guidelines and regulations. <br /> <br />Page 5 of9 <br />
