City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> September 12, 2012 <br /> Discussion: Council Member Paar questioned the fund availability. Director Jeziorski <br /> stated that the Storm Fund would be utilized and that funding was available for this <br /> project. <br /> All in favor. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> 4. Business Development Prospect <br /> Administrator Larson stated that he had been in contact with a business that would be <br /> interested in a commercial site of 2 -3 acres for an 11,000 square foot building allowing <br /> for future expansion to 30,000 square feet. The business stated that a neighboring <br /> community had offered a free building site for the business; however, this had yet to be <br /> confirmed. Administrator Larson stated that the City does not have property available <br /> within their new development along Commerce Drive unless two lots were utilized. <br /> Administrator Larson brought this discussion before Council to ascertain whether <br /> Council desired to offer Tax Increment Financing or other incentives to attract the <br /> business to Centerville. A potential site was discussed; however, soil borings would need <br /> to be completed to determine whether the site is viable and the site is currently not owned <br /> by the City. <br /> Consensus of the Council was to have the Administrator continue discussions with the <br /> current land owner and the potential business owner; however, support for tax increment <br /> financing would be limited to about 8 years. <br /> IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS/UPDATES <br /> Administrator Larson reported that the Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department <br /> desires to purchase a vacated business which contains Indian burial mounds. Lengthy <br /> discussion was had regarding the property becoming public property and being removed <br /> from the tax rolls. However, the County is willing to provide the City with an easement <br /> for an entrance monument and a one -time payment in -lieu of removing the property from <br /> the tax roll. Consensus of the Council was not to support the proposal by Anoka County <br /> for this purchase. <br /> Administrator Larson reported that the City would begin cleanup efforts regarding the <br /> property in the downtown area shortly. A contractor, Building Official Palzer, Police <br /> Department and Attorney Glaser will all be on hand. <br /> Mayor Wilharber reported that on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 the Anoka County <br /> Commissioners had held a meeting at Centerville and he was on hand to greet them and <br /> to learn that they will be decreasing their levy for 2013. Mayor Wilharber reported that <br /> the County will be holding a meeting to discuss reconstruction of Centerville Road <br /> Page 5 of 7 <br /> 5 <br />
