City of Centerville
Council Meeting Minutes
April 23, 2003

Council Member Lee indicated there are funds set aside for 21 st A venqe but this stretch
of road is very bad.

Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated the City does not have money anywhere
close to what this would cost for a reconstruction. Mr. Peterson'then speculated that the
road reconstruction would cost approximately $100,000 to $200,000 depending upon
whether curb and gutter were required.

Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that Staff indicates a semi-permanent patch would last 3 to 5
years and possibly longer at a cost of approximately $40,000 to $50,000.

Mayor Sweeney indicated he would like to know what it would cost to do it right.

Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that the street reconstruction information would be ready in
June and there would be a recommendation for that stretch of roadway.

Council Member Capra indicated that residents are cutting through St. Genevieve's
property to avoid that part of Heritage.

Mr. Peterson commented that it could be.put back to gravel for a couple of years until
there are more funds available for a complete reconstruction.

Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated she had a resident contact her wondering if there is an
opportunity for a community garden.

Council indicated that they' were not opposed to residents using City property for the
garden but were not interested in the City footing the bill for soil amendments.

Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that the City received information that there will be no
lifeguards at the beach this year and said she would be verifying that information.

Ms. Moore-Sykes asked whether Council was interested in business cards.

Mayor Sweeney indicated he did not think it was necessary to have them p$ted for the
few times they are used and suggested that Staff purchase the clean e4ge printable cards
from Office Max and print a few sheets for Council.

Council Member Capra indicated she had offered to pay for them herself .and would like
to have.some to hand out to residents.

Council indicated that it was fine for Council Members to order business cards provided
the Members paid for them and not the City.

Mayor Sweeney asked that Staff obtain the clean edge business cards to have on hand for
Council.
