MEMO

DATE:

TO:

FROM:

RE:

May 9,2003

Honorable Mayor and Council Members
Mary Capra
Downtown City Property - Old Public Works

......................................................................................

Background: For several years the City ofCenterville has been looking to develop the old public
works site in the downtown area. We did send out a plan for development and only received one
proposal for purchase (St. Genevieve's Church for a parking lot).

Two years ago the City of Centerville formed a task force to review potential design concepts for
commercial development. We hired Shea Architect to assist in that process. Mr. Mike Kraft was the
architect that worked with this group. Mr. Kraft's firm at the time designed what is now Main Street
Bank.

Current Issue: Currently Mr. Kraft is employed with HTG Architects of Minneapolis and has
contacted me regarding development of our old public works site. I have attached an email I
received from him regarding his interest.

I have stated to Mr. Kraft he should be able to obtain some of the infonnation he is requesting in his
email from Mr. Patzer or Ms. Moore-Sykes. He would also like to know what the council's thoughts
and ideas are regarding redevelopment of the property.

Mr. Kraft may possibly be in attendance at our meeting on the 14th to answer any questions the
council may have. If he were not able to attend our next meeting he would like to meet with the
council at a later date in time to discuss this issue.

Mike Kraft
HTG Architects
9300 Hennepin Town Road
~eapolis,~ 55347
952-278-8880
Fax 952-278-8822
www.htg-architects.com
