City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />December 12, 2012 <br /> <br />4.Successful Performance Evaluation – Mr. Mike Jeziorski, Finance Director, <br />Completion of Year 3, Grade 12, Step 5 Moving to Step 6 <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member King, seconded by Council Member Fehrenbacher to <br />approve the Consent Agenda as presented. All in favor. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />VI. AWARDS/PRESENTATIONS/APPEARANCES <br /> <br />1. Centennial Lakes Police Department – Quarterly Report (Sgt. Pat Aldrich) <br /> <br />Sergeant Pat Aldrich addressed Council and gave a brief review of the items/projects that <br />the Centennial Police Department have been focusing on since his last report three (3) <br />months prior. Sergeant Aldrich stated that Officers are currently focusing on <br />relationships with residents within the community versus criminal elements at this time <br />due to Centerville’s lower crime rate; attending snowmobile club meetings allowing <br />partnerships with members; tracking and policing of vacant/foreclosed properties; school <br />partnerships providing additional visibility and safety; dual training between the <br />Centennial Fire District (First Responder) and Centennial Lakes Police (Use of Force); <br />addition of several new members to the department; universal Glock handgun program; <br />current use of license plate reader; funeral participations for fallen officers; new vehicles <br />and graphics; CERT Program; participation in “Toward Zero Death” (anti-DWI and <br />traffic safety) program and recent commercial burglaries that included stolen firearms. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber thanks Sergeant Aldrich for the quarterly report. <br /> <br />VII. OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. None <br /> <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Planning & Zoning Commission Report & Recommendation to issue a <br />Conditional Use Permit to CenterMart, 1801 Main Street <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber noted that there were replacement pages placed before Council for <br />consideration and requested that Legal Counsel provide clarification of the modifications <br />that had been made to the Conditional Use Permit. Legal Counsel Glaser stated that Item <br />#4 was modified to allow for the following language: “Each day a violation exists <br />constitutes a separate offense. Criminal penalties are in addition to any other remedy <br />available in law or equity.” Legal Counsel Glaser stated that this language allowed <br />greater protection for the City and allowed an opportunity to work with the applicant to <br />rectify a violation if one occurred. <br />Page 3 of 7 <br /> <br />
