5. Are you aware that Centerville compiles a business directory and posts it on the city website? The directory is also printed in hard copy and delivered to city residents about every two years. About half of the business owners were aware of the directory. Most expressed that they would like to be in the directory, if it is published. 6. Do you find you get business from the local directory? [Would you like the city to continue updating the directory and make new updated ones available again ?] A small number of business owners felt that they got business from the directory, even so, most felt that the directory should continue. 7. In the past the city council /staff hosted a business appreciation picnic in the summer. All the Centerville businesses where invited and everyone had a chance to network and talk about current business conditions and what is working for them and their business. Unfortunately attendance dwindled and the event was discontinued. Would you attend if the city were to start doing this again? Many said that they would not have time to attend a business appreciation, but a number thought it was a good idea. Late afternoon seemed to be the preferred time for those that expressed an opinion. Two expressed that they would prefer that it be kept very informal, maybe held in a park. 8. What could the city do to assist you in further growing your business? The majority did not have any suggestions here. One made the comment to lower the taxes and a second asked for the traffic signal at CSAH 14 and 20 to have a flashing yellow arrow to make left turns easier. 9. What could the city do to attract other business owners to town? Most had no suggestions, but several mentioned that lower taxes would help, one mentioned TIF, another mentioned cooperation between Lino Lakes and Centerville for future development. 10. Are you aware of other business owners who might consider locating in Centerville? "No" was the consistent answer here.
