Mr. LeBlanc shared his concerns <br />about the decline and slow regrowth of the aquatic plants over the past 14 years and <br />provided information for review. Consensus of the Committee was to place the item on <br /> <br />their next agenda for additional discussion. <br /> <br /> IV. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES <br /> <br />A request was made to amend the meeting minutes as follows: <br /> <br /> <br /> Under Roll Call, Vice-Chairperson Grahek was listed as present, when he was absent. <br /> Under Committee Business: <br /> <br /> <br />#3 - Centennial Soccer League, delete the last sentence and replace with “There <br />was discussion of not utilizing the irrigation system to relieve the water issues <br />during time of high rain volume” <br /> <br /> <br />#6 – Prioritize Park Improvement Projects, change wording under #7 from <br />“Indian” to “Native American Burial” & also the same for #2 under addition of <br />research projects. <br /> Under Updates: <br /> <br /> <br />#2 – Citizen Articles, the entire paragraph should be reworded as follows: <br />There were two articles of interest in the local Citizen newspaper: 1. The first was about <br />the author involved with the 5K/8K run. Chairperson Branch submitted this <br />information to the Citizen and will also submit a press release to other <br />newspapers. 2. The second was about the hole in the ground discovered at <br />Hidden Spring Park and speculated on its original purpose as it was brick lined, so <br />possibly for ice storage. Four of these have been found in Centerville. <br /> <br /> <br />#3 – Festival of Lakes, replace “city” in the second line with “Rice Creek <br />Regional Park”, correct spelling of Susan to Suzanne, add duties for Kevin <br />Waeghe to lead 5K runners & will be 5K marshal at the 5K turnaround and add <br />Mark Haiden & his duties to man water station 2 and awards program announcer; <br />#4 – Damages in LaMotte Park – delete verbiage in its entirety. <br /> <br /> <br />On-Going Items – Change from “None” to “Research Projects” (Park Benches) <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Branch, seconded by Committee Member Haiden <br />to approve the minutes of the July 10, 2013 meeting as amended. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. Committee Member Grahek abstained. <br /> <br />V. COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />1. Use of Laurie LaMotte Park <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Branch, seconded by Committee Member <br /> <br />Seeley to recommend to the City Council to approve the permit application <br />submitted by Ms. Stephanie Gavin for use of LaMotte Park on August 18, 2013 <br />from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All in favor.
