City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 12, 2014 <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member King to approve the <br />Special Event Permit Application for the 2014 Festival of the Lakes 5K/8K & ½ Mile Kids <br />Run/Walks ~ July 26, 2014 Subject to Approval by the Police and Fire Departments as <br />presented. All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> <br />5. Res. #14-008 – Resolution of Support for Centennial Fire District <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber stated that the City of Circle Pines passed a similar resolution at their Council <br />meeting on Tuesday. Administrator Larson stated that both communities desired to send a <br />message to the volunteers, staff and residents of their commitment to the District with Lino <br />Lakes’ recent withdrawal. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Love to adopt Res. #14- <br />008 – Resolution of Support for Centennial Fire District. All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> <br />st <br />6. Res. #14-009 – Resolution Approving Plan & Authorizing Bids – 21 Avenue <br /> Improvement Project <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber stated that Council previously entered into a Joint Powers Agreement with the <br />City of Lino Lakes regarding the proposed project and that the two Centerville property owners <br />have signed agreements with the City for their portions of associated assessments. The City of <br />Lino Lakes completed the plans on behalf of both cities. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Council Member Love to approve <br />st <br />Res. #14-009 – Resolution Approving Plan & Authorizing Bids – 21 Avenue Improvement <br />Project. All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> <br />IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS/UPDATES <br /> <br /> <br />1.Administrator Larson reported that the City will not be participating in the Lawsuit <br />regarding the White Bear Lake water levels due surrounding communities’ unwillingness <br />to participate and the Department of Natural Resources ground water management area <br />being put into place. <br /> <br />2.Administrator Larson reported that there will be a March 13, meeting of the collaborative <br />work group of cities to hear from a consultant to present a work plan to evaluate the <br />feasibility of a joint water utility. The Met. Council is excited to fund the study because <br />of the benefits or ramifications it could pose in the future. It is anticipated that the study <br />will be completed within six to eight months. <br /> <br />City Attorney Glaser stated that he was at a recent meeting where the City of Centerville’s staff <br />was given accolades for recent splitting of project bids with separate materials contract, in an <br />attempt to benefit from the City’s new tax exempt status.
