City of Centerville <br />Planning and Zoning Commission <br />April 1, 2014 <br />Discussion ensued regarding the City’ expenditures associated with the agreement to construct the <br />trailway from Heritage Street to Dupre Road ($80,000 - $90,000) and the potential for 50% <br />reimbursement of the City’s cost to complete the trail (Dupre Road to Birch Street). Anoka <br />County will pay for costs of securing right-of-ways for the proposed trail. It was noted that the <br />City of Lino Lakes’ is not willing to assist in trail construction at this time. <br /> <br />VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Metropolitan Council 2040 Draft Forecasts <br /> <br />Administrator Larson stated that the Metropolitan Council recently completed new forecasts for <br />the entire metropolitan area their new forecasts are much less than contained in the City’s 2030 <br />Comprehensive Plan, not every community received reductions similar to Centerville’s and state <br />aid for roadways is contingent upon population levels that are at 5,000 or above. <br /> <br />Clerk Bender briefly reviewed Met. Council’s figures by stating that they are estimating a slightly <br />higher than 400 in populations for 2040 with 385 more households and 91 more jobs. <br /> <br />Administrator Larson stated that these figures should be considered for future planning; however, <br />the actual growth will be dependent on the economy. <br /> <br />2. Joint Council Work Session Scheduled for April 9, 2014 @ 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Clerk Bender stated that a public hearing is scheduled for the same evening, however it is not <br />anticipated to be as lengthy as in previous years. Commissioner Montain is unable to attend. <br /> <br />VII. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES <br /> <br />1. Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting Minutes of January 7, 2014 <br /> <br />Chairperson Mosher provided Commissioners with an opportunity to amend the presented <br />minutes. <br /> <br />Commissioner Montain requested the removal of the word “November” from the second line of <br />the first paragraph of the submitted minutes. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Koski, seconded by Commissioner Montain to approve minutes <br />from the January 7, 2014, meeting as modified. Commissioner Haiden abstained. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />The Commission extended an opportunity for an update from the City Administrator. <br /> <br />Administrator Larson stated that he recently spoke with representatives from Mortenson <br />Construction regarding their desire to construct an additional free standing building on their <br />current site and also received an inquiry from a realtor regarding the construction of an 80,000 <br />square foot building. <br /> <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />
