s
City Council IA
City of Centerville, MN
We have been Centerville residents for over 35 years ( in a home built in 1958)
and witnessed significant population change and building code requirements.
Health issues now require us to move to maintenance free housing.
Over a year ago we attended informational meetings regarding the restructure of
Centerville Rd and that water and sewer would be extended down Centerville Rd.
This was the news we needed to start our search for a handicap accessible home.
We watched the city council meeting where (on the advice of the City
Administrator) the council voted not to proceed with this planned service
extension. We were devastated! This has created a hardship for us as we are
already under way with building a new home.
Since we need to proceed anyway, we hired a sewer inspector and got the news
that (although it works fine for us) our septic system is failing. How great is that!
With the new requirements the layout of our property does not meet the new
requirement needed for a mound septic system.
If, as the letter from the city stated, no extension of city services will happen until
the Vickers farm is developed that could be a very longtime. Also, there is no
guarantee that the services would not be brought in from Dupre road leaving the
residents south of Dupree in a no man's land. We were forgotten when the
Wilharber farm was developed and feel it could certainly happen again.
At the suggestion of the City Administrator, we are requesting that the city
reconsider the extension of service, or figure out how we could connect to the
services that are within 150 feet of our home.
Sincerely
76
