There needs to be a greater understanding that it takes all three departments to make the city function and no one department makes everything happen for the city. To be a little cliche, it is a three legged stool that keeps the city functioning. Each department has priority projects, but there also needs to be a set of common goals that all departments are trying to achieve regardless of which department the project is home to. The City Administrator should determine the approach to use. I am fine with various approaches as long as things are managed and quality work is getting done. • I think that we need to work as a group to identify tasks that are needed to accomplish City goals, and the goals should have a consensus of City Council support. Depending on the goal, it may have more of a collaborative approach or it may simply be direction from the Administrator. • While we all need to work together,the administrator and/or city attorney should be the final word in areas that are unclear or when department managers disagree. • Administrator gives direction and staff follows to implement the decisions of the city council. I am comfortable with a collaborative team approach being used to implement those decisions.
